Jem and the Holograms

I was actually really shocked when I saw it's critical reception. I mean 22% on rotten tomatoes is just way to many. This movie is suppose to be based on an 80s cartoon I've never watched but from what I can tell from other people's review the movie has very little to do with the cartoon. So jem is this girl who's father died from something they don't tell us about and her mother is never mentioned, so she lives with her sister, foster sisters and aunt and they settle differences by humming while makeing a wisseling faces witch is just so stupid, jem makes an overnight viral video somehow, and ya I'm going to list the flaws faster.
