Cinematographic works are protected for 70 years, but greed and stupidity have no expiration date. In fact, the complaint of the actors, Olivia Hussey and Leonard Whiting is indisputable and morally void.

Waiting fifty years to file a complaint against Paramount Studios is indecent.  The film in question is “Romeo and Juliet” directed by Franco Zeffirelli and the stars of the film are Olivia Hussey and Leonard Whiting.

The film, directed by Franco Zeffirelli, won two Oscars and two Golden Globe Awards for actors Olivia Hussey and Leonard Whiting, and the sexual abuse claim is a fitting tribute to Franco Zeffirelli and Paramount.

Olivia Hussey and Leonard Whiting were 15 and 16 years old at the time of the filming, and the complaint against the studio Paramount Pictures is for a non-consensual nude scene. The two teenagers that they were would have been “sexually exploited” by the studio.

The two actors, Olivia Hussey and Leonard Whiting, accuse those responsible for the film of “being dishonest and secretly filming naked or partially naked minors without their consent. The complaint states that the two performers suffered anxiety attacks and emotional distress during the five decades following the filming. Of course, they are seeking compensation in the hundreds of millions of dollars.

Solomon Gresen, who is their lawyer, says that the damage suffered has continued over the years, especially with the release of a new version of the film. “Sexual images of children are serious, and they should not be tolerated,” he added.

In contrast, the specialized magazine Variety pointed out that Olivia Hussey had defended the incriminating scene in its columns, during an interview in 2018. At the time, she felt that Franco Zeffirelli had shot it appropriately. “It was necessary for the film,” she had said then.

The two actors will have a hard time proving their good faith because for more than 50 years they have benefited from their popularity thanks to Franco Zefirelli’s film, and they have been able to shoot other films thanks to their award-winning “Golden Globe Awards for the film of Romeo and Juliet.

In the past, they said that Romeo and Juliet was a wonderful film and that they were happy to be in it, and now they are claiming an undue amount of money for their retirement. We have to hope for them that there is no backlash from the courts because Paramount Studios has the possibility to sue the duo for defamation if they are not convicted.
