In the new Disney, “Wish: Asha and the Good Star,” a young heroine realizes she doesn’t need her tyrannical king to grant her wishes.
Already, co-director of Tarzan and both installments of The Snow Queen, Chris Buck is at the helm of Disney Studios’ new animated film, this time alongside Fawn Veerasunthorn. From the looks of the trailer, Wish: Aisha and the Lucky Star should plunge viewers into a new magical world and introduce a new, striking heroine.
A 17-year-old teenager, Asha lives in Rosas, the kingdom of wishes. In this fantasy land off the Iberian Peninsula, King Magnifico promises to grant wishes to his people and the world.
But the heroine realizes that she can make her dreams come true on her own if she really wants them and that she does not lack the courage to fulfill them. Accompanied by her favorite goat Valentino and the adorable cosmic force Star, she will do everything to prove to others that they don’t need Magnifico.
Ariana DeBose, Alan Tudyk and Chris Pine make up the voice cast of Wish: Asha and the Good Star.
