Rating Summary
Annoying AF, and badly written. The constant 4th-Wall breaks by Enola destroys the narrative, the pace, it's condescending, and becomes annoying, irritating. But the worst sin of the movie is characterization. Whoever wrote this has no understanding of Mycroft Holmes (here an insufferable chauvinist petit-maƮtre millions of miles away from the understated genius, government superagent of the Conan Doyle books) and to add insult to injury, the characterization of Sherlock Holmes himself, despite the books, plays, movies and tv shows who clearly show what kind of character he is, his personality, and so on. Having Henry Cavill miscast as a sympathetic, charismatic, friendly, brotherly, caring Holmes is an irony in itself, after his utterly misguided casting as Superman, whom he played as depressive, brooding, uncharismatic emo dull bore that ruined that other classic franchise for years to come.

Enola is the youngest of the Holmes family, born in 1884. She lives alone in the British countryside with her mother, Eudoria, who educates her in an unorthodox way and far from the codes of old society. When Eudoria mysteriously disappears, Enola finds herself forced to contact her brothers, Mycroft and Sherlock. The latter being a famous detective, Enola thinks he can help him find his mother. However, when they discover that their little sister is far from being a model of wisdom and politeness, they decide to send her to boarding school to make her acceptable in society. Unhappy, Enola disguises herself and escapes in the direction of London where she is led to solve a mystery.
