Gael Garcia Bernal will star in a Halloween special from Marvel Studios that will air on Disney+ next year, and The Nevers actress Laura Donnelly has joined the cast.
In this case, a good guess is Vampire By Night, the werewolf/vampire hybrid child of Werewolf By Night.
Werewolf By Night is, in essence, a werewolf character who can maintain both his intellect and self-control. A variety of conventional “monster” Marvel characters might be introduced in the lead-up to the Blade relaunch, including this one.
Moon Knight, whose comic he initially appeared in, also ties the character. Moon Knight, starring Oscar Isaac, has already been revealed as a Marvel series on Disney+. There’s no word on whether or not nature will appear in Moon Knight before getting his one-off special episode.
Bernal is best known for his roles in Mozart in the Jungle, Y Tu mamá también, The Motorcycle Diaries, and Love’s a Bitch, all released in the early 2000s. As Zorro, he will co-star with Kiersey Clemons in the next Z flick.
For her performance in Outlander, Donnelly is most recognized.
Donnelly’s casting was first announced by Deadline.
It’s still not sure who Bernal will portray in the Marvel movie. Jack Russell, a lycanthrope descendant with the power to transform into a werewolf even in the absence of a full moon, was the first Werewolf by Night to appear in Marvel Comics.
Jake Gomez, a Native American with a history of lycanthropy, appears in a second appearance.
While it’s feasible that Marvel Studios might either remake an existing character or use an existing character merely in name, this has happened with a number of other characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) (think of all those villains in Iron Man 3 for instance).
In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Werewolf by Night has long been rumoured to play a role, with speculations reaching back as far as 2019.
Kevin Smith stated in July of last year that Marvel Studios had rejected his proposal to include Werewolf by Night in his now-defunct Howard the Duck animated series since the character will be appearing in other works.
“As I began planning my season, I thought to myself, ‘Alright. ‘Werewolf by Night,’ Season 5, Episode 5 “Smith made the announcement on his Fatman Beyond podcast earlier this year.
“That’s the gist of our storey: Howard is trapped, but with the help of pages from the Darkhold, he intends to return home. When I was explaining my plan to Howard, they said, “You can’t use Werewolf by Night,” and I asked why. Then I went into Jeph and told him what I wanted to do. They said he was being used by the movie section
