The unveiling of the cut scene with Catwoman in The Batman

It is clear that the movie “The Batman” is without a doubt the biggest movie event of the beginning of the year 2022. The film, mostly acclaimed, still has a few things to offer us. After the discovery of the incredible scene with the Joker, a new cut has just been revealed.

Ben Affleck’s The Batman movie is apparently at a dead end, the famous hero could get a new incarnation in the cinema. Under the direction of Matt Reeves, it is Robert Pattinson who has been enlisted to play him, surrounded by a very nice cast (Zoë Kravitz, Paul Dano, Jeffrey Wright, Andy Serkis, Colin Farrell, John Turturro or Peter Sarsgaard).

The entire story of The Batman takes place at the beginning of the Dark Knight’s rise (Year 2, to be precise) and follows him investigating the actions of the Riddler, who intends to expose the dirty secrets of Gotham’s political figures. During his investigation, our hero meets Catwoman, the Penguin and Carmine Falcone. The film has reached the end of its career in theaters and it is a great financial success. To date, it has earned 751.6 million dollars.

In North America, The Batman has just arrived on HBO Max, 45 days after its release. At the same time, we can lay eyes on a cut scene that features Selina Kyle and Oz/Penguin. The action takes place at the Iceberg Lounge club and more specifically in the office of the villain played by Colin Farrell. Selina goes there to help Bruce, who observes the scene from a distance thanks to his little gadgets. The Penguin then takes the opportunity to reveal that he has big plans for Gotham and that he intends to take over the city in the future.

It’s easy to understand why Matt Reeves decided to cut this passage because it doesn’t bring any new light on the Penguin. Knowing that the film is already very (too?) long as it is, it was necessary to make choices not to weigh down the whole. The scene will be less memorable than the one with the Joker revealed last month.

Nevertheless, they share a common point: teasing the future of the extended universe that will be developed around The Batman. We recall that a series on the Penguin is in the pipeline and that a second opus seems inevitable.
