Actor Joey Batey, fresh off his role in the prequel The Witcher: Blood Origin, hints at Jaskier’s plot in the upcoming third season of The Witcher. Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill), a magically empowered monster hunter whose fate is entwined with that of Princess Ciri, is the main character of Netflix’s blockbuster fantasy series (Freya Allen). Quarter-elf sorceress Yennefer of Vengerberg (Anya Chalotra) and traveling bard Jaskier (Joey Batey) are frequent travel companions of Geralt’s across the Continent. The cheerful bard is also featured in the new prequel series The Witcher: Blood Origin, which premiered on Netflix on December 25.

Batey hinted at the upcoming season of The Witcher being the strongest of the fantasy show’s run so far during an interview with GamesRadar+ to promote The Witcher: Blood Origin. In addition, the actor playing Jaskier in The Witcher has said that the character would have a romantic interest in the following third season.

How the Events of Blood Origin Prepare the Way for Jaskier’s Third Season of The Witcher
Even while most of The Witcher: Blood Origin takes place 1,200 years before the main series, the prequel actually kicks off with a conflict that occurs sometime after season 2 of the main series. Jaskier had already earned the respect of the Scoia’tel and gained renown as the Sandpiper for his role in rescuing Elves from the Temerian army. Time seems to freeze around Jaskier just as he is about to meet his untimely end, and a shapeshifting creature named Seancha rescues him and charges the bard with a crucial task.

From then on, the prequel series focuses on telling Jaskier the tale of the Legend of the Seven, the Conjunction of the Spheres, and the birth of the first Witcher. Since The Witcher: Blood Origin is presented as a tale recounted to Jaskier, we learn important details about the bard’s past—including the possibility that he is a descendent of Éile—which sets the stage for Jaskier’s role in The Witcher season 3. The threat that Geralt and the Continent confront in Season 3 of The Witcher has not been revealed, although it will most certainly have some bearing on the past revealed to Jaskier in that game.

There are hints in the books about who Jaskier might be romantically interested in throughout the third season of The Witcher. Dandelion, who Jaskier is based on, had romantic relationships with several different people in the books by Andrzej Sapkowski. These people include Anna Henrietta, Vespula, and Essi Daven. It currently needs to be discovered how faithfully Netflix’s adaptation will follow the books in this area. Still, as the release date of The Witcher season 3 approaches in the middle of 2023, more details should become available.
