
The magnificent work, Metropolis is a German expressionist science fiction film made in 1927 by the famous director, Fritz Lang and written by Thea von Harbou in collaboration with Lang, based on the novel, released in 1925 by von Harbou.
The script was written as a treatment, it stars Gustav Fröhlich, Alfred Abel, Rudolf Klein-Rogge and Brigitte Helm.
The producer, Erich Pommer, produced it in the Babelsberg studios for Universum Film A.G.
Metropolis is a silent film and is rightly considered a pioneering science fiction film, being among the first feature films of this genre. The shooting took place over almost two years, in 1925-26 and the cost was more than five million Reichsmarks of the time, about 23 million US dollars today.
