For the past few months, only one photo of “Killers of the Flower Moon” has been circulating on the Web. Apple TV has finally unveiled new shots of the film by Martin Scorsese, on which appear Robert De Niro, Leonardo DiCaprio and Lily Gladstone.
To his great joy, Martin Scorsese reunites his two favorite actors in a feature film. If Robert De Niro and Leonardo DiCaprio have already played each other in Secret Wounds and Simple Secrets, Killers of the Flower Moon finally marks their first joint collaboration with the director of Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, The Departed and The Wolf of Wall Street.
Killers of the Flower Moon is based on the book of the same name by American journalist David Grann and looks back at the murders of members of the Osage tribe in Oklahoma in the early 1920s. Crimes committed by the rancher William Hale (Robert De Niro), with the help of his nephews Ernest (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Bryan Burkhart (Scott Shepherd), in order to get hold of the oil discovered on their land.
Lily Gladstone and Jesse Plemons are also in the cast of this highly anticipated feature film. The team of the film will be on the Croisette next May to present it at the 76th edition of the Cannes Film Festival.
As the festival is approaching, frustration was beginning to build over the fact that only one image of the project, in which Lily Gladstone and Leonardo DiCaprio are seated, was released.
On Twitter, Apple TV decided to react to the calls of Internet users by revealing three unpublished shots. On the first one, Robert De Niro and Leonardo DiCaprio are apparently in the middle of an animated discussion. The second is a production photo on which Lily Gladstone exchanges with Martin Scorsese on a church bench. Finally, the last one shows again Lily Gladstone and Leonardo DiCaprio, this time outside, in full complicity moment.
What to reinforce the expectation and excitement around the feature film, which has a duration of 3 hours 26 minutes. A project that looks like a great crime fresco, an exercise in which Martin Scorsese has obviously nothing to prove.
