Kiefer Sutherland is back on the screen

There will soon be a new Kiefer Sutherland movie or TV show. The actor has been cast as the lead in XYZ Films’ forthcoming action film, The Winter Kills. The film will be directed by John Stalberg Jr. and will start filming in New Jersey this spring. In The Winter Kills, Sutherland is said to play « a disgraced cop who hunts the serial killer who murdered his colleague ten years ago — and now returned, killing again. » This is according to a logline from XYZ. No other cast members or information regarding the film’s narrative have been announced, and Sutherland is the sole confirmed actor. Ben Floro Carney penned The Winter Kills, taken from the most recent edition of the Black List, Hollywood’s annual survey of the most-liked scripts that have yet to be realized. Patrick Rizzotti, Paul Johansson, David Guglielmo, Wyatt Russell, Oliver Hudson, Stalberg, and XYZ are producing the project. The creators of The Winter Kills want to secure a distributor during the next European Picture Market, where the film will be shown to buyers. Blue Fox Financing, a marketplace recently launched by Rizzotti to connect filmmakers with sources of debt lenders, will also be used to facilitate production on the project. Rizzotti has produced several blockbuster movies for big studios, including Pride, The Super, and The Collector (which spawned not one but two sequels). Stalberg has claimed that he is « beyond happy » to cast the legendary Kiefer Sutherland in a part that would test the limits of his extraordinary talent. Wyatt Russell, Oliver Hudson, Patrick Rizzotti, David Guglielmo, Paul Johanson, and the superb crew at XYZ—I couldn’t have asked for a more remarkable group of professionals to help me bring The Winter Kills to life. Kiefer Sutherland’s Resumé Is Remarkable. The character of Jack Bauer on the Fox crime drama 24, for which Sutherland won an Emmy and a Golden Globe, propelled him to fame. In the ABC/Netflix political drama Designated Survivor, he portrayed President Tom Kirkman for three seasons. Additionally, Sutherland has appeared in a wide variety of films, including The Three Musketeers, Flatliners, Stand by Me, and Phone Booth. Next, he will be seen in the lead role of Paramount+’s Rabbit Hole and appear in the upcoming Netflix sci-fi mystery film They Cloned Tyrone. XYZ is no stranger to high-quality productions; the studio is demanding at work on several films intended for the European Film Market. Among these are Daniela Forever, starring Henry Golding, BlackBerry, directed by Matt Johnson; and Seven Veils, featuring Emmy and Golden Globe winner Amanda Seyfried. The Winter Kills has not yet been given a public release date.
